Copps talks consolidation with noncomsStation managers affiliated wtih Eastern Public Radio and Southern Public Radio are confabbing in the close-in Washington DC suburbs 10/26-27, and will host FCC Commissioner Michael Copps late in the afternoon of day #2. The topic will be one of essentially peripheral concern to the noncommercial community - - media consolidation. Copps will address the session at the Four Points Sheraton in Bethesda on Wednesday, 10/27/04 at 3:30 PM Eastern. Noncommercial licensees are not subject to the same local station caps which are imposed on commercial broadcasters, and are not required to file engineering reports demonstrating compliance with the rules when involved in a station transaction. At the same time, they rarely bump up against the caps anyway.
