Diamondback Online - STAFF EDITORIAL: Group assignment

"There's no doubt the students who run WMUC care about it deeply. Why else would they sit alone in a tiny booth in the middle of the night hosting shows no one listens to? They've got the passion; now they need the business savvy. Far too few students tune into WMUC to make it a viable future station. Just like other radio stations, the advent of digital forms of music and file sharing have hurt it. But there's something just plain romantic about a successful college radio station, and this university has enough character to sustain one. Kraus proposal for WMUC includes pumping more dollars into it, which is necessary to make it run more effectively and to advertise enough to grab more listeners. WMUC may not be the new WHFS 99.1 FM, but it does have an audience - the student body - that can propel it into greatness, which will in turn bring in advertising dollars and make the station self-sustaining. It just needs a little help from the SGA."
