"The dispute began in 2003 when Akaku cut off funds to Maui Community College, which broadcasts classes on Channel 55. Akaku President Sean McLaughlin said MCC wouldn�t agree to conditions recommended by Akaku�s auditors. In other words, MCC apparently didn�t meet Akaku�s bookkeeping standards, which may or may not have warranted the funding cut."
