The Western Herald - WIDR manager sends new vibe

"One ajor problem the station had to deal with in the past, he said, was making long-term goals for the station. He said it could now be a possibility as he plans to be at the station for the next three years."

village voice > screens > Web Radio Picks to Click by Joseph McCombs

"In the infinite dial of web radio, good stations can be hard to find, but the right combination of smart programming, sharp production values, and responsiveness to audience feedback can turn a basement broadcast into the next KROQ. (Without the ads and corporate back-scratching, of course.) The Voice regularly scans the web for stations that rise above the college-radio level; here are a few to get you started: "

Does college radio deserve to be treated in this manner?

PROFNET WIRE: ENTERTAINMENT & LIVING: Future of Radio: "ROUND-UP: Future of Radio
Following are experts who can comment on the future of radio. With names like Jack and Bob (or Fickle and Nine), radio stations promising an anything-goes mix of pop and rock hits are springing up across the country. The variety format is seen, in part, as a way to appeal to listeners used to loading their own iPods with music from different genres -- or to keep those thinking about switching to satellite. Nothing Can Kill These Radio Stars - Valley Star - Valley Life

"Since its antenna broke a couple years ago, Valley College's KVCM has been broadcasting over Adelphia's Public Access channel 25, proving that video doesn't kill these radio stars.

The station that's been at Valley since the 1960s covers everything from sports to Spanish rock."

Surprisingly, there has been little if any discussion about it within the industry, as it is a broadcast technology that broadcasters did not develop. "

Inside Bay Area - 'Talk Back' a big leap forward for Peralta TV

"Hosted by Michelle Mokalla and Anthony Cooper, the program is college director of communications Jeff Heyman's attempt to turn the student-run PCTV television cable station into something people watch instead of tune out.
'The idea is, we wanted to create a program that serves the mission of the colleges,' he said. 'People would watch the program and say, 'Hey, there's something going on with these colleges and I want to check it out.''
'Talk Back' has all the right elements to speak to its target audience of young adults ages 18 through 30 - shaky MTV-style camera movements, electronic, hip-hop background music and two young, attractive hosts. "
