FCC Fines Station for Public File Violations
1. In this Forfeiture Order (“Order”), we issue a monetary forfeiture in the amount of four thousand dollars ($4,000) to Snow Hill Broadcasting, L.L.C. (“Snow Hill”), licensee of station WQMR, Snow Hill, Maryland, for willful and repeated violations of Sections 73.3526(e)(6), 73.3526(e)(8), 73.3526(e)(9), and 73.3526(e)(12) of the Commission's Rules ("Rules"). The noted violations concern Snow Hill’s failure to retain in its public inspection file a political file, “The Public and Broadcasting” manual, a file of letters and e-mail from the public, and a file with quarterly issues/programs lists for the year 2003.

EDITOR: While this is not a college station, it serves as a reminder of the need to properly maintain your Public File!

PBS station scans dial for radio license: "WLVT-TV 39 officials began last month testing the waters at Muhlenberg College to see if WMUH-FM 91.7's Federal Communications Commission license is available. This week, representatives of the Bethlehem-based television station and Lehigh-Carbon Community College reportedly plan to meet about the WXLV-FM 90.3 license.
'As far as I'm aware, there are no signals for sale at this point,' said Pat Simon, the WLVT president and chief executive officer. 'If something would come up, I would be interested in talking to anyone who would be interested in working with us.' "

Im not as nervous as I used to be. The first time, my voice was shaking. I dont prepare as much nowI can rely more on inspiration and flow of the music to dictate what comes next. I want the listeners to have a good experience and its not something I take lightly. Its important to me."

New MTU Lode website for: "WMTU, Michigan Techs college radio station, has always been a great organization, as well as one of the schools largest. You might expect that with an organization of WMTUs size, there might be some loss in genuine care for what the group is all about. This is not the case with WMTU and its easy to tell if you hang around the radio station for any amount of time. There is a genuine love of music that seems to be shared by all WMTU members equally. Airwaves for the People - The Daily Californian: "So yes, college radio can get pretty terrible. But this is Berkeley folks. We have amazing record stores. Our homeless people rule. Does it not follow that we'd have an awesome radio station as well? Enter KALX, which resides in the bowels of Barrows on campus and at 90.7 on your FM dial. "

The Daytona Beach News-Journal: Editorials: "With that in mind, Daytona Beach Community College contracted with Cornerstone Broadcasting to be its news source for students. Cornerstone (FM 89.7 and 90.3, and AM 1450) is a so-called Christian radio station. Its mission is to 'save the lost and disciple the saved for Christ.' DBCC is a public community college. The partnership between the college and the radio station is causing some concern. A public institution isn't supposed to endorse or fund or subsidize a religious operation. But the concern in this case is itself improper."
